Helen Brown

MANAGER

Equinox, Aquila

Helen is the manager of adult team Equinox, and Advanced Novice team, Aquila.

She has been skating with Equinox for 4 years, after transferring over from rollerskating and bringing her daughter along for the ride.

Helen loves the team environment in Synchronised skating and the opportunities it provides for both adults and kids to grow together - on and off the ice - and travel the country with a team, having a heap of fun along the way.

Helen is also a member of the executive committee.

Aussie Skate

Solange has been skating since 2022 and is a parent to one of the BSISC Aussie skate skaters and enjoys spending time seeing all the hard work, determination and pure joy that all these young athletes put into their skating each week but most especially the team work and friendships that have blossomed as they work so well together.

Solange comes from a background in education, is very active in the school community and works part time outside of the home."

Jeanne Best

MANAGER

Quantum

I am the Team Manager of Quantum, the basic novice team established in 2025. I am also a proud mum to two daughters, aged 13 and 15, who both skate in Quantum, with my eldest also skating in the mixed‑age synchro team.

Ice skating has always been a passion of mine. As a teenager, I spent most weekends at public skating sessions, and it has been wonderful to see that love of the sport continue through my children.

When Quantum was formed in 2025, stepping into the team manager role felt like a natural fit. Having a daughter in the team, along with the strong community and relationships I have built over many years with parents and the club at Boondall, made the decision an easy one. I enjoy building positive relationships, coordinating team needs, and being part of a close‑knit and supportive community.

One of my greatest joys is helping new families feel welcome as they begin their journey in entry‑level competitive skating, and supporting our skaters as they grow in confidence, skills, and teamwork.

Maree Symons

MANAGER

Solstice

Maree started her skating journey by joining a ‘precision’ team in 1990, influenced by her mother and skating judge Robyn, who was captain and a foundational member of the first adult ‘precision’ skating team in Queensland, The Makaras.

She competed in Junior and Senior divisions for 7 years at National level, leaving the sport for 13 years then returning to compete with Evolution (Adult) , Team Unity & Eclipse  (Open) when her son was 1 year old.

Maree jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the Advanced Adult Team Solstice when it formed in 2016, and has competed with them over the last 10 years.

She is currently loving her new roles as Solstice’s off-ice fitness trainer and manager.
