Our Story
Bev commenced her association with the Boondall Synchronized Ice Skating Club in 1995 when her daughter started ice skating with the first Junior Synchronized team - Cutting Edge.
Bev worked with this junior team supporting the team. Her daughter stopped
skating in 2012 but Bev remained and is still there working tirelessly for the Club.
In 2010 she became President of the Club and held this position until 2026.
She worked tirelessly for the club advocating for synchronized skating throughout Australia.
In 2002 Bev first became manager of a junior synchronized team (Ice Fever) and travelled overseas to junior worlds with the team. Over many years Bev was the manager of the senior team (Nova) and organized all their training sessions and finances. She travelled all over Australia with Nova for Australian Synchronized Skating Championships and overseas with the team many times to attend
competitions throughout Europe and Great Britain. She organized all the travel arrangements (including ensuring all travelers had passports and air travel confirmed), accommodation, travel throughout the countries visited and all meals. Not a small undertaking for teams of 18+ skaters.

Bev joined the Executive Council of Queensland Ice Skating Inc. in 2012 and shortly after that took on the position of Secretary to the Council. She resigned from the Council in 2023 when her husband was diagnosed with Brain cancer.
Three times Bev was appointed Chef De Mission for Australian Synchronized Teams competing overseas and travelled with the teams selected to compete in overseas competitions including Synchronized World Championships.
Bev was the underlying glue of BSISC for 30 years working in many volunteering positions and guiding the club into the successful organization it is today.
Shortly after her passing Bev was posthumously awarded the Elaine Darling Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering award. that acknowledged her significant contributions to the club.
In 2026 the club introduced the Bev Donoghey award for skater of the year.
